Teleportation of physical objects as in series "Star Trek" became a step closer to reality thanks to a device prototype with use of technology of the 3D-press. His founders used simple reception.
As the Daily Mail newspaper, the device under the name Scotty writes (in honor of one of characters of science-fiction series "Star Trek") digitizes object in one place, destroying it during scanning, and recreates its copy in other. The object posloyno is scanned, then language is translated on clear to cars and unpacked on the 3D-printer.
That телепортировать a thing, it is necessary to place it in the device, to choose the recipient and to press the Move button – it will be телепортирована on the specified place.
Scotty is the simple self-contained unit allowing телепортировать inanimate physical objects on distance, – researchers from Institute of a name of Hasso Plattner in Germany speak.
Uniqueness of object remains at the expense of original destruction. An essence that it not simple copying of initial object, and transfer from one place in another. According to researchers, at the same time there can be only one copy of object. It increases emotional value of the physical objects exchanged between friends.
Scotty solves one more actual problem – a digital piracy. With development of the 3D-press serious there is a problem of leakage of initial files on which it is possible to copy and multiply an original thing.
Destruction of the original guarantees that the thing bought in Internet shop will be delivered to the buyer instantly.
Scotty: Teleporting Physical Objects Scotty allows teleporting inanimate physical objects across distance. Each Scotty unit consists of an off-the-shelf 3D printer that we have extended with a 3-axis milling machine, camera, and a microcontroller for encryption/decryption and transmission. Users place an object into the sender unit, enter the address of a receiver unit, and press the teleport button. The sender unit now digitizes the original object layer-by-layer: it shaves off material using the built-in milling machine, takes a photo using the built-in camera, encrypts the layer using the public key of the receiver, and transmits it. The receiving unit decrypts the layer in real-time and starts printing right away. Users thus see the object appear layer-by-layer on the receiver side as it disappears layer-by-layer at the sender side. Scotty is different from previous systems that copy physical objects, as its destruction and encryption mechanism guarantees that only one copy of the object exists at a time. Scotty scans object by means of the digital camera, and destroys by means of a milling cutter. The lack of the device is that he allows телепортировать only plastic, and in one color – black (for the purpose of increase in contrast). As about any other materials the speech does not go, on other planets while it is possible to forget about teleportation. However with development of technology of the 3D-press the range of the materials suitable for teleportation, will increase only.
According to scientists, travel in time and the real teleportation will appear by 2100.
